Chaos 2 Calm

I think one thing that we, as parents of multiples, can all agree on is that organization is key to survival. Mother of identical twin girls, Tonia Tomlin, wrote the perfect book to help parents-to-be get organized, Chaos 2 Calm.  Chaos 2 Calm starts in the beginning when you first find out you’re expecting multiples and takes you through the toddler years. There are so many tips in this book, I wish I had it when I was pregnant.

Throughout the book Tomlin has inserted forms that make life so much easier. There is also a CD attached to the book where you can print out the forms in the book, how easy and perfect is that? Additionally, there are product picks and ‘good to know’ tips in the margin.

One of my favorite tips is Tomlin’s room layout charts. I think planning out the nursery and doing it in such a way that was functional and practical was one of the hardest things we did.  Tomlin’s layouts are simple and work in just about any space.

If you are expecting, or you know someone who is, you need to grab this book.  One lucky reader has a chance to win a copy of Chaos 2 Calm. Simply enter in the Rafflecopter widget below.

The Baby Bump: Twins and Triplets Edition

When I was pregnant with Aaron and Jill there were pretty much two books on the market, Barbara Luke’s “When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads” and Cheryl Lage’s “Twinspiration”.  Now with the boom of multiple births there are a ton of books on the market specifically for us parents of multiples.  The latest book is from Carley Roney of The Knot, Inc.

There’s a reason why more than two million women turn to TheBump.com each month. From its sassy and straightforward tone to its honest advice and fun visuals, the website is the go-to resource for the modern mom-to-be.

Here, the experts behind The Baby Bump bring their wisdom to moms expecting multiples. Packed with expert advice and insights, this comprehensive guide answers the questions expectant moms are sure to have (like “Are my babies growing at the same rate?” and “Can they both sleep in one crib?”), all wrapped in a colorful package, making it mom’s essential resource as she waits for her bundles of joy.

Two lucky readers will win a copy of The Baby Bump from Double Up Books, the premier bookstore for twins, triplets and more. Simply fill out the information in Rafflecopter and check back on November 29 to see if you’ve won.

VeggieTales: Bob & Larry Go Country

My kiddos are hooked on VeggieTales, it’s no secret. We received the latest CD, Bob & Larry Go Country, which features several popular country songs being sung by characters from VeggieTales.

Aaron and Jill have requested to listen to this CD every single day since it came in the mail. Their favorite song is Boondocks, which always makes Scott and laugh because we saw Little Big Town when I was pregnant with them and they both kicked like crazy during that song.

One lucky Multiples and More reader has a chance to win a copy of Bob and Larry Go Country. Simply fill out the info in Rafflecopter:

Beyond Baby Talk

For 11 years, Beyond Baby Talk, has been the only book parents need to guide their children in learning effective communication skills – and now it is fully updated and revised. Authors Kenn Apel and Julie Masterson, experts in child language, take the mystery out of the developmental process with updated education research, simple milestones parents can look for and easy activities to build strong language skills. The subjects covered in Beyond Baby Talk are:

  • Enhancing a child’s literacy skills for improved spelling, reading and writing abilities.
  • Understanding and navigating how TV and texting may impact language development.
  • Recognizing signs of language and literacy progress problems – and knowing when to seek professional help.
  • Being aware of common language myths, fads and scams.

I was able to read an advanced copy and the best part about this whole book is that there is a section on multiples. Let’s face it, when it comes to anything with multiples, it’s just not the same as having a singleton. Additionally, I really enjoyed all of the sections on media and the influence that they have on our kiddos language development. It covers TV, texting and computer usage.

This book is such an amazing resource and should really be owned by every parent. There are so many great takeaways from this book, you’ll use it the entire first five years of your kiddos lives.

One lucky reader has a chance to win a copy of Beyond Baby Talk. Simply fill out the information in Rafflecopter and check back on October 10th.

My kiddos have the white “trick or treat” Twinz Teez, which they wore last year and I love them! They wash wonderfully and are perfect to wear during the day for Halloween.

Wonder Box

My good friends over at Education.com have launched a new product that, in my opinion, is beyond awesome. The product is called the Wonder Box.

The Wonder Box is literally a story in a box with coordinating activities for kids ages 3-6.  In every Wonder Box, you’ll get instructions and all the supplies you need to do three fun projects, hand-picked by Education.com’s experts to help your child explore that month’s theme. You’ll also get access to an exclusive webpage filled with ideas and inspiration to help keep your family exploring until the next box comes along.

The box we received was themed “Once upon a time…” and featured the story Stone Soup (one of my favorites).  Our box included a story cape with fabric crayons, supplies to make a felt puppet, story cards, story coloring book and a recipe for stone soup.

The skills covered in the box are: fine motor, creativity, dramatic play, creative problem solving, social & emotional development, storytelling, vocabulary, story sequencing, comprehension, cooperative play, measuring and sequential directions.

In addition to the activities that you get in the box, you can also go online and find even more activities and printables. One of the cool activities on the page is how to turn your box into a puppet theater so your kids can act out their favorite stories.

My kiddos had a blast doing all of the activities, and while cooperative play was one of the skills that were covered, we did have some issues with that. The best way to combat sharing issues is to let each child pick the activity they want to do and then move on. There are enough activities that you can easily let each child do two or more. I love that there is a sequence game that the kids can do after listening to the story, and a recipe where they can bring the story to life.

The Wonder Box has two options for subscription: monthly and 3-month. For more info on pricing and subscriptions, please see the pricing page.

One lucky reader has a chance to win a Wonder Box of their own to try out with their kiddos! Simply fill out the info in Rafflecopter and check back on September 19th to see if you’ve won.
