Crafting With Kids: Marshmallow Fun

It’s the time for drinking hot chocolate and decorating gingerbread houses.  This means it’s also the time for marshmallows.  We had a lot of marshmallows left over from recent activities and so instead of the kids eating them all I decided we should have some fun with them instead … once they had a full stomach of course.

So we made stars

and snowmen

Christmas tress, candy canes, presents, and elf hats

And even houses in forests (that appear might be taken out by an avalanche at any moment).

And they had so much fun for 2 hours one day that the only problem that occurred was them running out of marshmallows and not wanting to take apart their creations to build new ones.

So if you are looking for a quiet activity to do with the kids over the next few days, fill some bowls with assorted marshmallows and see how many fabulous holiday pictures they can make.

Have a wonderful holiday season everyone.

That’s a great exercise in art…and in restraint! ;) Thanks for the idea!

What a great idea! I’d imagine even adults would find this fun. (or at least kids-at-heart adults, anyway!)

Maybe taking photos and creating a picture collage might take away the sting of destroying the creations?
