Valentine’s Day Craft – Crafting With Kids

Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away so it’s time to start crafting hugs, kisses, hearts, and all things love-ly.
While the kids were playing with Perler Beads recently, we decided to make a Valentine’s Day necklace for Miss M.
What you will need:
Place a few beads into a heart-shape on the peg board. Place the peg board on a hard surface such as a cutting board. Lay a small sheet of parchment paper over the top and using a warm iron (without steam) gently iron both sides of the heart until the beads are attached to one another. Note: Make sure that there is still a hole in the beads though so you can insert the jump ring.
Set your heart aside to cool then carefully insert the jump ring into the center hole at the top of the heart. Thread a chain through the jump ring and you are done! I found packets of jump rings and packs of chains (3 in a pack) for $3.99 each at my local craft store (Michael’s). Make a few extra for best friends, and little cousins too.
And while Miss M and I made her heart necklace, the little man is quite content doing this:
Does anyone else have a house that is routinely covered in Perler Beads? Between that and Lego my feet may never be the same again.
Are you working on any Valentine’s Day crafts at the moment? I’d love to hear more about them if you are.
Happy crafting!

Oh my goodness, I haven’t seen Perler Beads in ages! I didn’t even know that still made them. I have to get some for my daughter.
And I love the little heart necklace.
Simply adorable.
What a fun idea!
