Last night I had a chance to see I Don’t Know How She Does It. The film stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Munn and Christina Hendricks, and is based on the critically acclaimed bestseller by Allison Pearson, I Don’t Know How She Does It follows a Boston-based working mother trying desperately to juggle marriage, children, and a high-stress job.

This movie is incredibly easy to relate  to everyday life as a mother.  The fact that they had Busy Phillips (Dawson’s Creek, Cougar Town) as a “Momster” made me smile more than you know. I think when it comes down to it we know each person in this movie. We know the Momster, we know the Mom who thinks she can do it all, and we know the smug guy who tries to get ahead in business (without really trying).

I saw the film with my friend Dawn, who also has twins, and after the movie she looked at me and said, “I just had that bake sale thing happen, I found out the night before. Yeah, they definitely got break and bake….”. I often find myself looking and her and wondering “I don’t know how she does it!” She works as a therapist, home schools one of her children, is super involved in her church, and seems to have it pretty much together. I think it’s a question that we ask ourselves all of the time, and I am so glad that this movie showed just how truly chaotic it can be when you have entirely too much on your plate.

But it does beg the question, how do you do it?
