My family started the Listerine Smart Rinse Sweet Smart Challenge on October 8th and just finished it up last night. Like I mentioned in my first post, I was shocked at how excited my family was to start this challenge.

The Listerine Smart Rinse Sweet Smart Challenge is designed to encourage healthy oral hygiene habits in your family. I’ve always taken the approach of leading by example and knew that I lacked in the flossing department. During the challenge I made a conscious effort to floss daily and let my kids watch me floss. I will admit, trying to floss the teeth of two four year olds is a challenge in itself and I did end up failing on that end. However, I excelled in my own personal flossing habits. I think my dentist may even be proud of me.

The other thing my husband, Scott, and I loved about the challenge was using the Listerine Smart Rinse. At first I thought it was the most disgusting thing on the planet. I mean really, who wants to see the stuff they missed brushing in the sink? It was gross. However, it did prove a point and forced us to do a better job brushing. It ended up becoming a game. Yes, we are grown adults and we made a game out of this. When the kiddos are older I plan on having them use this product, I think it will be a great way to help them brush better.

If you have an extra minute, check out America’s ToothFairy, which is a great non-profit organization that is committed to eliminating pediatric oral disease and promoting overall health and well-being for underserved children nationwide.

I’m curious to know if any of you participated in the challenge with us. How did you do?

Disclosure: I received products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Listerine Smart Rinse Sweet Smart Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own (especially the part about flossing).
